Missionary Interest
We fully acknowledge that all Christians are 'Missionaries' to those who they live and work with, and in the forces this is particularly challenging for those who eat, sleep, work and play in close proximity to their work colleagues (mess mates!!) for long periods of time. Life in the forces provides Christians with particular skills that many subsequently transfer into more traditional 'Missionary' situations. On leaving the Service, many members of NCF enter theological training and become ordained (and often rejoin the Navy as a Chaplain!) or go into other 'full time' Christian work. We 'adopt' some of these ex Service Missionaries, remembering them regularly in our prayers, send gifts from our Missionary Fund and often welcome them home on furlough.
We currently have ex RN personnel working with Operation Mobilisation, Youth With A Mission (YWAM) (at sea on both OM and YWAM ships!), with Wycliffe Bible Translators, working in Spain and also in China.
